Storage and Maintenance

Usage
1- Hook Knife
The Hook Knife has a single cutting side. It is also known as a spoon carving knife and is mainly used to scoop out wood from a blank to create a bowl shape. The wooden handle has a length of 103mm, and the cutting edge is 29mm from end to end. The hook knife is specially designed for making spoons, kuksa carving bowls, cups, woodcuts, and any round edge carving.
How to use the Hook knife?
a) Hold the knife in your dominant hand.
b) Use the peeling grip and peel across the grain of your wood until it becomes a shallow bowl.
c) Carve in all four directions.
d) Move your wooden piece and continue to use the peeling grip in different and smaller sections until you achieve the desired shape.
2- Sloyd Knife
The Sloyd Knife has a single cutting side. It is specially designed to carve intricate designs in tight spaces. The straight blade can accommodate larger stock removal if needed. The wooden handle has a length of 103 mm, and the cutting edge is 60mm from point to point.
How to use the Sloyd knife?
a) Hold the knife in your dominant hand.
b) Use the peeling grip and peel across the grain of your wood in your preferred directions.
c) Move your wooden piece and continue to use the peeling grip in different and smaller sections until you achieve the desired shape and feel.
3- Detail Knife
The Detail Knife has a single cutting side with a very fine point for making the very narrow cuts associated with detailing. The wooden handle has a length of 128mm, and the cutting edge is 50mm from point to point. The detail knife is specially designed for woodworking, cutting small detail to perfect your woodworking.
How to use the Detail knife?
a) Hold the knife in your dominant hand.
b) Use the peeling grip and peel across the grain of your wood until you have the desired shape.
c) Continue to use the peeling grip in different and smaller sections until you achieve the desired shape.
4- Oblique Knife
The Oblique Knife has a single cutting side. It is used for carving large outline patterns. The wooden handle has a length of 103mm, and the cutting edge is 30mm from point to point.
How to use the Oblique knife?
a) Hold the knife in your dominant hand.
b) Using the cutting edge, peel the surface of your wood until you have the desired shape.
c) Keep peeling until you achieve the desired feel and pattern.
5- Trimming Knife
The Trimming Knife has a rigid cutting edge, and this allows it to carve small outline patterns. The Trimming knife is specially designed for the depth and detailing of small patterns. The wooden handle has a length of 128mm, and the cutting edge has 17mm*30mm from point to point.
How to use the Trimming knife?
a) Hold the knife in your dominant hand.
b) Remove the amount of wood from the surface until you achieve the pattern you desire.
c) Adjust the wooden piece and continue to remove the wood from the surface in different and smaller sections until you achieve the desired shape.
How to Sharpen the Knives?
a) Apply some of the oil wax to the polishing strap.
b) Hold the handle with palm up.
c) Tip the blade forward to the edge, hold the angle, and sharpen the tip of the blade in one sweep, do this repeatedly.
d) If the blades are rough, sharpen the blade on the sharpening stone first and then use the leather strop.
e) Check if you removed some metal by dragging your finger on the blade (carefully).
